Piano Prep/Early Childhood
Most of us don't consider music for our kids until they start asking for instrumental lessons around age 6 - 9. Unfortunately that's too late! Kids can learn music as easily as language if they start learning when their music aptitude is the greatest - birth to 5 years old.
When a child starts young in a good music class developing essential musical skills such as:
- moving and singing expressively
- singing on pitch
- keeping a steady beat
- echoing simple musical patterns
not only do they start becoming fluent in music, they also develop the essential, preliminary skills that will enable them to transition to instrumental lessons easily and joyfully. Once a student starts formal instrumental lessons, the majority of their focus will be directed to instrument specific issues like technique, note layout, etc. and little will be left for the most essential musical skills. CSMs unique, transitional Piano Prep/Early Childhood class for ages 3-5 helps make that jump between Early Childhood and Instrumental lessons.
