Focus on Teaching
100% Focus
The Champaign School of Music focuses 100% of its efforts on designing and providing the best Music Program in Champaign-Urbana. Students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds come to develop their musical interests and skills through a full range of private and group lessons, studio classes, performances, reward program and exams.
Similarly, your teacher focuses 100% of her attention on you. Our friendly and efficient admin staff schedule lessons, organize recitals, collect tuition, pay bills, and take care of publicity so your teacher doesn't have to. This leaves your teacher free to devote 100% of her attention and expertise to teaching and developing a personalized study program that will nurture your talents and interest.

Outstanding Music Program
Private lessons, Group programs, Studio classes - you choose.
Each student comes to us having a unique combination of age, ability, interest and skill level. Some benefit mostly from the one-on-one attention gained in Private Lessons. Some prefer the camaraderie and interaction with peers they get in Group Classes. Students who benefit from both and enjoy excelling at music often combine a Private or Group Class with a Studio Class.
Sequential Program of Study
We provide a sequential program of study from age 3-Adult. You can start at 3 years and matriculate through our program until you are 100, enjoying the convenience and comfort of sticking with a team of teachers, schedule and environment you know.
Performing Opportunities
During your program of study, you may perform in a variety of fun, non-threatening Concerts, Recitals and Music Get Togethers. These are designed to support the student's learning, provide valuable motivation for practicing and give the student an opportunity to give back to their parents and community.
Studio Classes: Music Composition/Theory, History, Performance
These fun, but essential studio classes support your private or group instrumental lessons. They help you understand the music you're learning in private lessons in many different ways. With better understanding comes more enjoyment, improved playing skills and increased motivation to practice and continue learning. Additionally these classes also give you an opportunity to explore a wider variety of musical interests and learn from other experts.
Most music students don't have the opportunity to take classes like these until they're in college. We're really pleased to be able to offer Champaign School of Music's students age appropriate music classes that will support their private lessons and enhance their learning.
Exam Preparation
We offer training in repertoire, theory, technique, ear training, sight reading and harmonization to prepare students for Illinois State Achievement in Music (AIM) Exams and Guild.
Motivational Reward Programs
You will receive support and motivation through our Practice and Performing Reward Programs. Every student experiences days when they don't want to practice and parents sometimes find it tricky to enforce it without causing bad feelings. However, if a student is to gain the most from lessons and parents' investment, a student must practice. These programs are very successful in helping a student find the motivation.
Happy, Nurturing, and Professional Environment
The "Happiest Place on Earth!" is the motto Walt Disney chose for his theme parks. We hope you'll find the Champaign School of Music to be the happiest music school in Champaign County!
